Fair opportunities in India?
Hello there friends, I am Deepak Thakur, there's particularly nothing I have achieved yet. To say it bluntly I am still Pursuing my bachelor's degree in Science. Of course! that degree has ZERO value to it currently, but back in the day, it was a very prestigious degree to have. So I was wondering how did this degree turned into trash. I researched our education system and gathered statistics to understand our learning system. And the only conclusion I got was " OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM IS SIMPLY UNFAIR". Here is the reason why I came to this conclusion.
After completing my 10th standard, I chose to enrol myself for classes to prepare for JEE. I knew little about the Exam. The only thing I knew was the difficulty of the exam is very high. I enjoyed 2 years of coaching in a premier institute, ( can't say its name). And as you might have guessed, I FAILED. And I am totally responsible for my failure, I failed because I didn't study. But my friend genuinely tried hard for this exam, even though his family was financially unstable, They squeezed out money to pay the fees of a premier institute ( it was like 3.5 lakhs for 2 years). Even after this ....he failed, I remember seeing him study from morning to evening, he dedicated every fabric of his being to this examination. But just for 2 marks, he missed the cutoff. WHEREAS my another classmate cleared this examination... I will tell you how.
As far as I can recall, he was the richest person in our classes. The fees were almost like peanuts to him. And he missed the cutoff in general category by 35 marks, but he cleared the cutoff in his category. Of course, he had a quota. He was an SC. And the most interesting part is, he never attended the class regularly, he always paid guest visits to his class and he was clueless about every subject knowledge. He cleared the examination with the help of luck and he got some major help from our screwed-up government policies and quota system. (for some reason ...government finds him more deserving).
As a result, my friend had to Join BSC, because it had lower fees and yes, this is how BSC is treated....like a "leftover", "run-in-the-mill" and "good for nothing" degree. BSc was defamed because most of the people who joined were totally unserious about the degree. They treat it like trash and just somehow want to clear it so that they can get a decent job ( like hell they will get a job with this attitude ) and this is why BSC degree holders are unemployed. This causes major defamation to the degree.
So find the quota system fair? I know it used to be important when there was a large scale discrimination but nowadays there is no discrimination, rather I came to hate that SC after this incident and this incident was caused by none other than our Indian government. The quota system is no different than discrimination, and using this discrimination to stop other discrimination was foolish from the start! ( and just so you know, my parents never thought me discrimination even though I belong from brahmin family)
These statistics aren't just for JEE, but for all the exams hosted by our government.
